What are the UK CBAM default values for cold-rolled stainless sheet?
HMRC's UK CBAM default for cold-rolled stainless sheet 1 to 3 mm thick with 2.5% nickel or more (7219 33 10) is 6.462 tCO2e per tonne, and 6.101 for 0.5 to 1 mm (7219 34 10). Hot-rolled stainless coil above 10 mm (7219 11 00) is 5.687. Low-nickel grades fall under other codes with their own values.
Defaults under heading 7219
- 7219 33 10: cold-rolled, over 1 mm to under 3 mm, nickel 2.5% or more: 6.462 tCO2e per tonne.
- 7219 33 90: the same thickness, nickel below 2.5%: 5.347.
- 7219 34 10: cold-rolled, 0.5 to 1 mm, nickel 2.5% or more: 6.101.
- 7219 34 90: the same thickness, nickel below 2.5%: 5.758.
- 7219 11 00: hot-rolled coil above 10 mm: 5.687.
Nickel content changes the code
The same thickness has two codes and two defaults depending on whether nickel is at least 2.5% by weight. Check each grade's mill certificate against the code before using a default.
For re-rollers
The hot-rolled coil or slab you buy in is the main precursor. Without a verified figure from its maker, report it at its default and use actual data for your own rolling.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads coil purchases by grade with annealing and pickling fuel, so your own figure can be set against the default for each nickel band. We build the figure from your records and check every figure in-house; for the UK it must then be verified by a verifier accredited for UK CBAM. Have your own verifier? Send it to them.
