What location details does Verra need for an energy project with several sites?
The project description must give country, state, district and community or city, plus maps showing the geodetic coordinates of every instance of the project. At validation and at each verification you also prepare a geolocation file with Verra's tool.
What goes in the description
- Country, region or state, district, and community, municipality or city.
- One or more maps showing the geodetic coordinates of all instances, for energy and industry projects.
- Any further location information your methodology asks for.
What counts as an instance
For energy and industry projects the Standard asks for all instances and does not spell out in this requirement what an instance is. Treat each place where project equipment sits as one, and ask your validation and verification body (VVB) whether a row of identical machines in one shed can be one point.
The geolocation file
A geolocation file is prepared at validation and again at verification, following Verra's Geolocation File Preparation Tool.
Habits that save time
- Take coordinates at the equipment, not at the office address, and photograph each point with the date.
- Keep one list with each site's name, district and coordinates, and use the same names in the description, the geolocation file and your bills.
Example: one project across three sites
- Site 1: Ludhiana, Ludhiana district, Punjab: two induction furnaces, two points
- Site 2: Ludhiana, Ludhiana district, Punjab: one boiler, one point
- Site 3: Rajkot, Rajkot district, Gujarat: one furnace, one point
- The description lists three sites and four points, and the geolocation file matches
An example list. Coordinates come from your own survey of each point.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads each site's bills separately, so energy per site matches the sites listed in your description. It does not register projects or issue credits; Verra and your validation and verification body do.
