Our installer runs the monitoring. Must Verra's project description name them?
Yes. Verra requires implementing partners who work with you to be identified in the project description, with their roles and responsibilities over the crediting period, covering at least implementation, management and monitoring. An installer who runs your monitoring needs a named role.
What the description must say
- Who each implementing partner is.
- Their roles and responsibilities across the whole crediting period.
- At a minimum, who handles implementation, who handles management and who handles monitoring.
Who counts as a partner
The Standard says implementing partners working with the project proponent, and points to the VCS Program Definitions for exact meanings. If your installer, meter contractor or data agency does project work for you, treat them as partners and ask your validation and verification body (VVB) to confirm.
Keep the contract and the description saying the same thing
- The roles in your installer contract should match the roles in the description.
- If the contract gives the installer any claim on the reductions, that belongs in your proof of ownership too.
- If a partner changes during the crediting period, update the description before the next verification and tell your VVB.
Example: roles for a heat recovery project
- Installer: implementation (supply, fit, commission) and monitoring (reads meters monthly, sends the log)
- Proponent, the factory: management (owns the records, approves the monthly log, answers the VVB)
- Meter contractor: monitoring (calibrates meters once a year)
An example split. Every project's roles differ.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads the bills and meter records your installer sends into dated records, so the monitoring role leaves a trail you can show. It does not appoint partners. It does not register projects or issue credits; Verra and your validation and verification body do.
