Can a Baddi pharma plant use a lower grid factor because Himachal runs on hydro?
No. India publishes one national grid factor, 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh in CEA v21.0, and the location based method uses it for every state. Himachal hydro feeds the shared grid. To report lower Scope 2, buy renewable power or certificates and show it under the market based method.
Location based
Use the CEA national figure for the year, whatever the state generation mix.
Market based
- Green energy open access with units delivered to you.
- Indian RECs or I-RECs retired for your consumption.
- Own rooftop solar, which cuts kWh bought.
What buyers expect
Both totals, with factor source and year, and documents for any renewable claim.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads electricity bills into dated, fingerprinted records and keeps location based and market based figures side by side, each with the factor and year used.
