What are the emissions of processing bentonite per tonne?
Mining diesel, drying fuel and grinding electricity make up most of it. Sodium activation with soda ash adds the soda ash's own footprint to Scope 3. Divide each by tonnes of finished bentonite and add them up.

- Mining and haulage: diesel at 2.68 kg CO2 per litre.
- Sun drying costs nothing; mechanical dryers burn fuel.
- Grinding and bagging: electricity at 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh.
Activation
Soda ash bought for activation is Scope 3. Its CO2 is released where it is made, not in your plant.
