What are the emissions from processing dried fish?

Sun drying on racks uses almost no energy, so emissions come from ice, salt, transport and packing. Mechanical or solar-assisted dryers add fuel or electricity. Work per kg of dried product: fresh fish loses most of its weight, so divide energy by output, not by fish landed.

What to include

Per kg of dried fish

Divide total energy emissions by kg of dried product sold. Catch emissions come from the vessel's fuel; ask suppliers or use a database figure.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel invoices and electricity bills and applies IPCC 2006 factors and the CEA grid factor (0.710 kg CO2 per kWh), so you can compare Scope 1 and 2 before and after a change from the documents themselves.
