Do the 20 litre drinking water jars delivered to our office count in our emissions?
Yes, as Scope 3 Category 1, purchased goods, but they are usually tiny. Count the water, the delivery trips if you know them, and new jars bought. Reusable jars are refilled many times, so most of the impact is the supplier's treatment power and transport.
What drives it
- Treatment energy at the supplier, often RO plus chilling.
- Delivery van trips.
- New jars, if you buy them rather than swap.
Where to stop
If water jars are under one percent of your total, estimate once and keep the method. Spend the effort on fuel and power.
