Can captive solar credits under AM0123 carry the CCP label yet?
Not yet. ICVCM's table lists AM0123, renewable energy generation for captive use, v1.0, under both Gold Standard and Verra's VCS, assessed by a multistakeholder working group with no decision shown. Until it is CCP-Approved its credits cannot carry the label. Grid-connected AMS-I.D and ACM0002 credits were found not to meet the CCPs.
Where AM0123 sits
ICVCM files it with grid-connected renewable energy. It is being assessed by a multistakeholder working group, the same route that produced "Does not meet" for the older grid methods, and no outcome is shown yet.
The neighbours already decided
- ACM0002 v1.0 to 21.0 and AMS-I.D v1.0 to 18.0, grid renewable power: Does not meet.
- AMS-I.A v1.0 to 19.0, electricity generation by the user: Does not meet.
- AMS-I.L v1.0 to 4.0, rural electrification by renewables: Does not meet.
- AMS-I.C v1.0 to 22.0, thermal energy with or without electricity: no decision shown.
- VMR0017 v1.0, Verra's revised grid renewable method: CCP-Approved.
What to do meanwhile
- Do not price a credit sale on a CCP label you do not have.
- Meter generation and own use separately from day one; any methodology will want both.
- Decide early whether the solar's attribute goes to your own Scope 2 claim or to a credit buyer. It cannot go to both.
- Recheck the table before you sign any offtake.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads your electricity bills and does not treat net-metered units as consumption, so captive solar shows up as lower grid purchases in your Scope 2 records. It gives carbon credit eligibility signals but does not label or sell credits.
