Are galvanised, colour-coated and tinplate sheets under CN 7210 covered by CBAM?

Yes. Coated flat steel 600 mm or wider, CN 7210, covers tinplate, galvanised (GI, GL) and painted sheet (PPGI), and is covered under the Chapter 72 line. Direct emissions only. The zinc and paint are not CBAM precursors; the steel substrate is.

Is it covered?

Yes. CN 7210 is flat-rolled iron or non-alloy steel, 600 mm or wider, clad, plated or coated. Narrower coated strip falls under 7212, also covered. Coated alloy and stainless sheet falls under 7225 and 7219.

Precursors to report

Default value

The Commission sets default values by CN code and country of origin in the annex to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/2621, with a mark-up that rises over the first years. We do not quote the figure here. Open the annex, find your code and India, and treat it as the number your buyer pays on if you send nothing usable.

What to send your EU importer

The common mistake

Counting the coating's weight as steel. Declare per tonne of the coated product shipped, but report the substrate's embedded emissions scaled to the steel actually used, plus the direct fuel of your galvanising or paint line furnaces.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and purchase invoices into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual emissions an EU importer asks for. It does not file CBAM declarations or verify emissions.
