Is narrow steel strip under CN 7211 and 7212 covered by CBAM?

Yes. Flat-rolled iron or non-alloy steel under 600 mm wide, uncoated (7211) or coated (7212), is covered under the Chapter 72 line. Direct emissions only. Slitters and re-rollers pass on the coil maker's figure and add their own furnace fuel.

Is it covered?

Yes. CN 7211 is uncoated strip under 600 mm wide and CN 7212 is clad, plated or coated strip of the same width. Both sit inside Chapter 72, which Annex I covers apart from most ferro-alloys and scrap.

Default value

The Commission sets default values by CN code and country of origin in the annex to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/2621, with a mark-up that rises over the first years. We do not quote the figure here. Open the annex, find your code and India, and treat it as the number your buyer pays on if you send nothing usable.

What to send your EU importer

The common mistake

Assuming slitting adds nothing so no data is needed. Slitting itself burns little fuel, but the importer still needs the parent coil's figure and the mill that made it. Without that, the default value applies to every tonne.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and purchase invoices into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual emissions an EU importer asks for. It does not file CBAM declarations or verify emissions.
