Senseible

How does a CBAM verifier spot unusual figures in my data?

The verifier runs analytical procedures at three stages: on totals before the work starts, on the data behind them, and on the final totals. They compare years, production against emissions, and nameplate capacity. Any outlier needs your explanation plus evidence, and can lead to wider testing.

What the checks look like

Three stages

When something stands out

The verifier must obtain an explanation backed by additional evidence, then judge the impact on the verification plan. That can mean more detailed testing of that area.

Where it works best

Where detailed data is readily available and comes from well-controlled sources, such as a financial system that is also audited, or fuel invoices entered into accounts payable the same way as other invoice data.

How to prepare

Before the verifier asks, check your own year-on-year and month-on-month figures and write a short note for any jump: a shutdown, a new fuel, a product mix change.

What Senseible does here

Senseible shows your fuel and power use by month, drawn from the bills themselves, so a spike is easy to spot and trace to the document behind it before a verifier asks.
