How does a Chittorgarh cement plant count CO2 from alternative fuels in the kiln?

Split each fuel into fossil and biomass carbon. Plastic rich refuse derived fuel is largely fossil, so its CO2 counts in Scope 1. Biomass such as agricultural residue is biogenic: report it separately, outside the fossil total. Use fuel tests, not supplier labels.

Effect on clinker

Swapping coal for biomass lowers fossil CO2 per tonne of clinker. Calcination CO2 from limestone does not change.

For CBAM

Clinker and cement are CBAM goods. Biomass counts at zero only if it meets the EU sustainability criteria for biomass, so keep its origin records.
