How does a data centre count refrigerant leaks from its chillers?

Refrigerant leaked from chillers and CRAC units is Scope 1. Take the kilograms topped up during the year as the leak, multiply by the gas's global warming potential, and add it to Scope 1. For R-134a, the AR6 value is about 1,530, so a 20 kg top up is about 31 t CO2e.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads each site's monthly electricity bills into a dated Scope 2 record, keeps renewable purchase documents beside them for market based reporting, and records diesel for backup generators as Scope 1. Grid factors outside India are entered from the official source and labelled. Customer shares use the allocation key you enter.
