Do I have to pay EcoVadis to answer my buyer's assessment?

Usually yes. EcoVadis says companies its customers invite must buy their own subscription, priced by company size and country, so your buyer's invite does not cover it. Check the plans page for your size band, and ask your buyer which plan or scorecard they need before you pick one.

Who pays whom

Your buyer has its own EcoVadis subscription to see its suppliers' ratings. That does not pay for yours: EcoVadis says trading partners invited to its network must buy a subscription to join, and you choose the plan you are assessed on.

EcoVadis lists the price after you pick your company size (up to 25, 26 to 99, 100 to 999, or 1,000 or more employees) and your country. Plans run for 1 or 3 years.

The plans, and what each one changes for you

• Carbon Rating: carbon questions only, giving a carbon scorecard. Offered by partner invitation, so you get it only if your buyer invites you to it. Not available to companies with 25 or fewer employees.
• Basic: the full sustainability assessment and scorecard, shared inside the EcoVadis network only. No access to the medal or badge image.
• Premium: adds benchmarking, public use of a medal or badge if you earn one, and sharing outside the EcoVadis network.
• Select: adds a priority, fast-tracked review and a pre-filled questionnaire where eligible.
• Corporate: for groups that want to share documents and manage scorecards across several entities.

How not to overpay

1. Email your buyer one question: which EcoVadis plan or scorecard do you need from us? If they only need to see your scorecard and they are on EcoVadis, sharing inside the network may be enough.
2. If the request is about carbon only, ask whether they can invite you to the Carbon Rating instead of the full assessment.
3. Pay for a fast-tracked review only if your buyer's date really needs it.
4. Have your documents ready before you subscribe. The scorecard you get is the one your buyer sees for the next 12 months.

When a medal is the reason to pay more

If your buyer, or your sales team, wants to show a medal on tenders and your website, Basic will not do it. That needs Premium or above, and a medal is never guaranteed: it depends on your percentile and the eligibility rules.
