Senseible

Do GeM tenders ask for a carbon footprint or green certificate?

Only if the bid says so. A GeM bid's requirements come from the category specification and any additional terms the buyer uploads. Those can call for a BEE star label, a BIS standard or, from some buyers, environmental conditions. Search both documents for carbon, footprint and certificate before you quote.

What GeM bids check today

Where carbon or green conditions can appear

When they show up, they come from the buyer: a ministry, PSU or project with its own sustainability policy, a green building project, or an energy efficiency condition above the label minimum. They sit in the specification or the additional terms of that bid, so the bid document is the only reliable guide.

If a bid does ask for one

  1. Read the exact wording: a product footprint, a company footprint, or an environmental management certificate such as ISO 14001 are different things.
  2. Check whether a self-declaration is accepted or a third-party document is required.
  3. Raise a pre-bid query if the wording is unclear.
  4. Give the method, the period and the boundary with any figure you submit.

What Senseible does here

If a buyer does ask for a company footprint, Senseible builds the Scope 1 and 2 figure from your fuel invoices and electricity bills as a self-declared draft, with each line traced to its source document.
