What is the CBAM figure for secondary aluminium remelted from scrap in Dubai?
Mostly your own melting fuel. Aluminium scrap carries no embedded emissions under CBAM, so the figure is the direct emissions of melting, holding and casting, plus any primary aluminium or alloying precursors added. That usually makes it far lower than primary metal, if you can show the records.
What counts
- Gas or oil for melting and holding furnaces.
- Primary aluminium added to adjust the alloy, at its embedded emissions.
- Dross treatment on site, if it burns fuel.
Records that make it stick
Scrap purchase invoices by grade, furnace fuel meters, primary metal additions and output tonnes. Without them the importer may fall back on default values set for primary metal.
