Does rooftop solar at an electric bus depot cut its Scope 2?
Solar power used directly from your own rooftop is not grid electricity, so those kWh carry no Scope 2. Only grid units imported for charging count, at 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh location-based. Keep solar generation records to show the split.
Steps
Grid import kWh from the bill x 0.710.
Solar kWh used on site from the inverter or a generation meter, reported separately with no grid factor.
Net metering
Exported solar units do not reduce your imports for Scope 2. Count imports as billed.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads the import units on an electricity bill and applies the India grid factor of 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh. Net-metered units are not treated as consumption, and kVAh lines get no factor until kWh is available. It does not read inverter or solar meter data.
