Can a green hydrogen certificate be used to claim CCTS carbon credits or be transferred?

Yes to both, with conditions. The certificate can be used to claim carbon credits under India's Carbon Credit Trading Scheme if the project also meets the CCTS rules, such as methodology BM EN01.002. It is also transferable, as a guarantee of origin with chain of custody, under an MNRE procedure.

What the certificate holds

Using it for CCTS credits

GHCI says the certificate can be used to claim carbon credits under the CCTS, but the developer must meet any additional CCTS requirements. For electrolysis that means registering under BEE's methodology BM EN01.002 and meeting its conditions, with its own validation and verification.

Transfer and chain of custody

The certificate works as a guarantee of origin and tracks chain of custody, and it is transferable under a procedure MNRE lays down. Before you sell certificates and credits from the same hydrogen, confirm with BEE and the buyer how the two claims are kept apart, so the same 100 kg block is not claimed twice.

What it does not do

What Senseible does here

Senseible does not issue or trade carbon credits. It keeps a dated record of the electricity and fuel bills behind a plant's emissions, the kind of activity evidence both schemes start from.
