What will a lender want for a chiller replacement loan?
Show the old chiller's power use per ton of refrigeration and its run hours, from a meter or audit. Give the quote for the new unit with its rated efficiency and refrigerant type. After installation, show measured kWh for the same cooling load. Both power and refrigerant leaks count.
Before the project
- Chiller kW per TR from an audit or sub-meter.
- Run hours and refrigerant top-up invoices.
After the project
- Sub-meter readings for the new chiller.
- Commissioning report and refrigerant charge.
What lenders look for
Like-for-like cooling load, and a lower-impact refrigerant noted, since leaks of high-GWP gases can outweigh power savings.
Worked example
- Old: 0.95 kW per TR, new: 0.65 kW per TR, 200 TR load, 6,000 hours a year
- Saving: 0.30 x 200 x 6,000 = 360,000 kWh
- 360,000 kWh x 0.710 kg = 256 t CO2 a year
What Senseible does here
Senseible measures your baseline from your own bills before the project and keeps measuring after it, so the saving you show a lender comes from documents, not a brochure. Lenders decide on the loan.
