Senseible

Our electricity use spiked in a heatwave month. How do we explain it in our report?

Show it, do not smooth it. Note the month, the cause such as extra cooling or longer running hours, and the kWh involved. Cooling degree days for your location help show weather, not waste, drove it. A verifier or buyer accepts a spike with a reason far more readily than a gap.

What to write

Comparing years

If you compare years, normalise cooling energy with degree days and show both raw and normalised figures.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills (CEA grid factor 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh, CO2 Baseline Database version 21.0) and diesel, LPG and gas invoices (IPCC 2006 defaults) into a dated, fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record for each site, and labels estimates as estimates.
