Our Henan foil mill rolls bought-in aluminium. What goes into the CBAM figure for foil?
Foil under CN 7607 is a CBAM good. Its figure is the mill's own direct emissions, such as gas for melting, casting and annealing, plus the embedded emissions of the unwrought aluminium bought in. Ask the smelter or remelter for its figure; otherwise use the default value.
Own emissions
- Natural gas in melting and holding furnaces.
- Annealing furnace fuel.
- Electricity is not counted for aluminium goods.
Precursors
- Primary ingot or slab: embedded emissions from the smelter.
- Remelted scrap: secondary aluminium, with its own lower figure.
- Weigh each input so the blend can be shown.
Per tonne of foil
Divide by tonnes of foil shipped from the period's production, and keep a yield record from slab to foil, because rolling losses raise the figure per tonne.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads fuel, electricity and production documents into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual emissions an EU importer asks for.
