What is India's grid emission factor for FY 2025-26?
0.675 tonnes of CO2 per MWh, or 0.675 kg per kWh. That is the weighted average for the Indian grid in CEA's CO2 Baseline Database version 22.0, published August 2026, adjusted for cross-border trade and including renewable and captive power fed into the grid.
The four FY 2025-26 figures
- Weighted average: 0.675 t CO2 per MWh. Use this for a location-based Scope 2 footprint.
- Simple operating margin: 0.963.
- Build margin: 0.446.
- Combined margin (50:50): 0.705. Operating, build and combined margins are for project baselines, not footprints.
How to apply it
- Take grid kWh from your electricity bills for April 2025 to March 2026.
- Multiply by 0.675 kg CO2 per kWh.
- Record the source as CEA CO2 Baseline Database version 22.0, FY 2025-26 weighted average.
What it replaces
Version 21.0 gave 0.710 for FY 2024-25. Version 22.0 keeps 0.710 for that year and adds FY 2025-26 at 0.675, the lowest figure in the series since FY 2013-14.
A factory using 1,20,000 kWh in FY 2025-26
- 1,20,000 kWh x 0.675 kg CO2 per kWh = 81,000 kg
- Location-based Scope 2: 81.0 t CO2
- At the earlier 0.710 the same use gives 85.2 t CO2
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads electricity bills into dated kWh records per meter and site, so whichever CEA factor and version you apply, each Scope 2 figure traces back to the bill and the factor behind it.
