How much CO2 does replacing factory high-bay lights with LEDs save?
Watts saved per fitting × fittings × hours run × 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh. Replacing 100 metal halide high-bays of 250 W with 120 W LEDs, run 3,600 hours a year, saves about 46,800 kWh and 33 tonnes of CO2.
Get the inputs right
- Actual wattage including ballast, from a meter or the fitting label.
- Run hours from shift patterns.
- Light levels: fewer, better placed fittings can save more.
Prove it
Sub-meter the lighting circuit for a month before and after. The bill alone hides lighting inside total load.
Example: 100 high-bays
- (250 − 120) W × 100 = 13 kW
- 13 kW × 3,600 h = 46,800 kWh
- 46,800 × 0.710 = 33.2 t CO2 a year
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads electricity bills, including kVAh, demand and solar export lines, into dated records with the units, factor and year behind every Scope 2 figure.
