How does a gas separation plant count the CO2 it strips from raw natural gas?

CO2 removed from raw gas and vented is a Scope 1 process emission of the gas separation plant, on top of the fuel it burns. Measure it from the CO2 content of the feed and sales gas and the flow, or from the acid gas stream directly. If it is captured and sold, report it and the buyer separately.

Sources at the plant

Mass balance

Feed gas CO2 minus CO2 left in sales gas and products gives the CO2 removed. Check it against any meter on the vent stream.

CO2 sold to users

Selling CO2 for drinks or welding does not erase it from the plant inventory unless the standard you use allows a transfer. State the treatment.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and freight invoices into a dated, fingerprinted record per site, so each figure you send a buyer traces back to the documents behind it.
