We buy LPG on one bill for both the canteen and the process. Do we need to split it?
Not for your company footprint: all LPG you burn is Scope 1 either way. Split it only for a product footprint, where canteen gas is usually left out as not attributable. Use a cylinder issue log or separate regulators to see how much goes where, and note the split method.
Ways to split
- Cylinder issue log by user.
- Separate manifolds or flow meters.
- Canteen use estimated from meals served, the rest to process.
Factor
LPG at 2.98 kg CO2 per kg, from IPCC 2006 defaults, whichever way it is split.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads electricity bills (CEA grid factor 0.710 kg CO2 per kWh, CO2 Baseline Database version 21.0) and diesel, LPG and gas invoices (IPCC 2006 defaults) into a dated, fingerprinted Scope 1 and 2 record for each site, and labels estimates as estimates.
