A Paradip DAP plant uses imported ammonia: what goes into its CBAM figure?
DAP is a CBAM good and ammonia is its precursor. Use the ammonia supplier's verified embedded emissions per tonne, or default values if they give none, plus your own plant's fuel and power. Phosphoric acid and sulphuric acid made on site add energy but are not CBAM goods themselves.
Your figure
- Tonnes of ammonia per tonne of DAP, from your plant balance.
- Embedded emissions per tonne of that ammonia.
- Your granulation, drying and power.
- Indirect emissions count for fertilisers.
Ask the ammonia supplier
Gas based ammonia without carbon capture often carries around 2 tonnes of CO2 per tonne, more from older plants. Ask for the verified figure for your cargoes.
Exports
Indian DAP mostly serves the home market. The figure matters for any EU lot and for buyers asking for fertiliser footprints.
What Senseible does here
Senseible keeps each site's fuel, power and production records together, so the embedded emissions you send an EU importer trace back to dated documents.
