What carbon data do OEMs ask Rajkot's auto component units for?

Monthly kWh and Scope 2 for the plant, a figure per part number, and the CO2 in the forging, casting or bar each part starts from. Rajkot's 160 or so auto component units run almost only on grid power, about 30 million kWh a year, so their own share per part is small; the blank is most of it.

Typical units, per year

Checklist for the OEM's supplier sheet

  1. Electricity in kWh by month for the last full year, from PGVCL bills, and Scope 2 at the CEA factor for that year.
  2. DG diesel, if any, as Scope 1.
  3. Pieces made per part number each month, and the machine hours each part takes.
  4. The blank: forging, casting or bar weight per part and your supplier's CO2 per kg, or a stated default if they have none.
  5. Heat treatment and plating done outside, with the job worker's energy per kg if you can get it.
  6. The allocation method you used, kept the same from year to year.

Worked example: a small unit's month, connecting rods and tappets

Plant power is TERI's typical small unit spread over 12 months. Piece counts, the hours split, the blank weight and the forger's 2.9 kg per kg are examples; ask your forging supplier for its own figure.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads your PGVCL bills into dated Scope 2 records and keeps your forging and casting suppliers' figures in a separate supplier trail, so the sheet you send an OEM shows which number came from where.
