Rajkot pump makers run almost wholly on electricity: what carbon data can they give pump buyers?

Give the plant's monthly kWh and DG diesel, Scope 1 and 2 totals, and a figure per pump model split by machine hours, not a flat average. Rajkot's roughly 1,000 pump makers used 70 million kWh and only 170 kL of diesel in 2014 to 15, so power is 97% of their energy.

Where a pump unit's power goes

What to send a buyer

  1. Twelve months of PGVCL bills and DG diesel slips, totalled by month.
  2. Scope 2 (grid power) and Scope 1 (diesel) in tonnes CO2e, with factors named.
  3. Pump sets made by model each month.
  4. A figure per model, allocated by machine hours, with the method written down.
  5. For a product footprint: castings, stampings, copper winding wire and motor laminations from your suppliers, which usually outweigh your own power.

Worked example: a medium unit, 1,000 pump sets a month, two models

Power use is TERI's typical medium unit. The 170 L is the cluster's diesel spread across about 1,000 units, an estimate; the model mix and hours are examples.

What Senseible does here

Senseible keeps every PGVCL bill and diesel slip as a dated record, so the monthly Scope 1 and 2 behind your per-model split is there when a buyer asks where a number came from.
