What happens at registry submission for a carbon removal project?

On Verra you open a registry account, list the project on the pipeline, sit through a 30-day public comment period, finish validation and submit the registration request with its documents. Verra reviews and sends findings to the verifier. After verification and the issuance levy, credits land in the proponent's account.

Step by step on Verra

  1. Open a Verra Registry account. Anyone can apply at any time.
  2. List the project on the pipeline as under development (no verifier yet) or under validation (verifier contracted), with a listing representation signed as a deed, and pay the listing fee.
  3. Once listed as under validation, the project goes through a 30-day public comment period.
  4. The verifier completes validation, and the project requests registration, with or without its first verification.
  5. Verra reviews the request and can raise up to three rounds of findings for the verifier.
  6. For issuance, the registry runs automated checks, creates serial numbers and invoices the levy. Once it is paid, credits go into the proponent's account.

What Senseible does here

Registry submission is one of Senseible's carbon removal capabilities: it starts from the same verifier evidence pack the verifier checked. Verra decides on registration and issuance.
