What goes into a verifier evidence pack for a carbon project?
Everything a verifier needs to redo your arithmetic and trace each number to a record: the monitoring report and calculation sheets, raw data for every parameter the methodology lists, lab reports, calibration records, location files and proof of your right to the reductions. Verra lists the documents it needs at each request.
What Verra asks for at verification
- Monitoring report and issuance representation.
- Verification report and verification representation, from the verifier.
- Calculation spreadsheets, unless the project submits through Verra's Project Hub and the figures are calculated there.
- Evidence of the right to operate and the right to the reductions.
- A geolocation file, and a non-permanence risk report where relevant.
The raw evidence behind it, for biochar
- Dry weight of biochar by type and facility, recorded at least monthly and cross-checked against sales receipts or invoices.
- Lab results for organic carbon and H:Corg, tied to batch numbers.
- Temperature logs and calibration records.
- At least one geodetic coordinate for each place biochar was applied.
- Chain of custody from feedstock origin to end use, plus written operation and maintenance logs.
Make it easy to check
- Link every figure to the document it came from.
- Record each change with its reason, and keep the old value.
- State gaps plainly instead of filling them.
- Give the verifier direct access. VM0044 requires access to every system and all evidence.
Who does what
The project prepares the pack. An accredited verifier checks it and writes the verification report, with a site visit at the first verification after validation. Verra then reviews the request before any credits are issued.
What Senseible does here
Senseible's verifier evidence pack covers every batch and a map of every farm, follows the methodology's monitoring parameters, and states data gaps instead of filling them. Farmers appear by pseudonymous id. Senseible prepares and checks the record; an accredited verifier checks it again.
