Senseible

We buy pulp from Riau. What should we ask the mill for our Scope 3 figure?

Ask for fossil emissions per tonne of pulp from fuels and bought electricity, biogenic CO2 from black liquor and biomass reported separately, and whether emissions from plantation land use, including any peat drainage, are included. Pulp is not a CBAM good.

Ask for

Land use

Plantation emissions, especially from drained peat, can be larger than the mill's own. Ask whether they are counted and on what basis, and record the answer with the figure.

Using the figure

Put it in Scope 3 category 1. Note which parts the supplier included, so a later, fuller figure can replace it.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads bills, fuel invoices and production records into dated, fingerprinted records, so the figure you send a buyer can be traced to its documents.
