Senseible

Our parent now has SBTi targets. Why is our own target marked "Legacy"?

Legacy is applied on request. Under SBTi Commitment and Target Statuses V2.1, it covers companies that closed, merged, were acquired or divested so their targets no longer fit, and subsidiaries whose parent published group targets that include them and asked for the subsidiary target to be marked legacy.

The two routes to Legacy

What it does and does not mean

What to tell buyers

  1. Your old target is legacy because the group target covers you.
  2. The group's dashboard entry and target wording.
  3. A group letter confirming your entity is inside its boundary.
  4. Your Scope 1 and 2 for the latest year, so the buyer can weight you.

What Senseible does here

Senseible builds Scope 1 and 2 for your own legal entity from its bills and fuel invoices, the figure both your group and your buyers keep asking for. It does not set, submit or validate SBTi targets; SBTi Services validates them.
