Senseible

What is on SIDBI's environmental and social due diligence checklist for a green loan?

Under SIDBI's GCF-backed FMAP programme the promoter fills in and signs a 14-point checklist with the loan application. It asks for environmental clearance and valid pollution control consents, any non-compliance notices, child or forced labour, worker safety, ESI and EPF, facilities for women, land acquisition, and distance from eco-sensitive areas.

Social questions

Location questions

Whether the unit is in a notified industrial area, cluster or SEZ. If not, further questions follow: compulsory land acquisition or displacement, location in areas of tribal or indigenous settlement, damage to critical cultural heritage, and whether the site is close to an eco-sensitive zone or within 10 km of a national park, wildlife sanctuary or reserved forest.

Who checks it

The checklist is signed by the promoter, then checked and signed by the lending officer of SIDBI or the participating lender, and approved by SIDBI's Green Climate Finance Vertical. A false answer found at a site visit is a much bigger problem than an honest gap with a plan to close it.

What Senseible does here

Senseible does not handle consents or labour records. It covers the energy and emissions part of a green loan file, a dated baseline built from your bills.
