What is the carbon footprint of a suitcase?
Shell material is the biggest part: polycarbonate, polypropylene or ABS for hard cases, nylon or polyester fabric for soft ones, plus aluminium handles and wheels. Weigh each part, apply supplier or secondary factors, and add moulding or stitching electricity per piece.
Parts
- Shell or fabric.
- Telescopic handle, often aluminium.
- Wheels and bearings.
- Zips, lining and packaging.
Factory
Divide monthly electricity for moulding, cutting and stitching by pieces made.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads your electricity bills, fuel invoices and purchase invoices into dated, fingerprinted records, so a per unit footprint can be traced back to the documents behind it. Estimates are labelled as estimates.
