What CBAM figure should an EU buyer expect for hot-rolled coil from a Tangshan blast furnace mill?

Expect a direct emissions figure close to the usual blast furnace range, often around 2 tonnes of CO2 per tonne of coil once sinter, pig iron and crude steel are included. Ask for the mill's own monitored figure; default values usually come out higher.

What goes into the figure

Why the range is wide

Plants differ in coke rate, scrap share in the converter and how much blast furnace gas is used for power. Two Tangshan mills can sit several hundred kilograms apart per tonne, which is why the mill's own data matters.

What to ask the mill for

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel, electricity and production documents into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual emissions an EU importer asks for.
