What is the UK CBAM default value for aluminium powder and flakes?

Two codes, two defaults. Non-lamellar aluminium powder (7603 10 00) carries 3.364 tCO2e per tonne under HMRC's UK CBAM; lamellar powder and flakes (7603 20 00) carry 2.886. Pellets of aluminium are excluded from both codes, and spangles from the flake code.

Two codes

Structure decides the code

Non-lamellar means granular or spherical particles; lamellar means flat, plate-like particles. Your product specification usually says which. The two defaults sit 0.478 apart.

Ingot is the precursor

Powder starts as unwrought aluminium under 7601, with defaults from 2.030 to 2.136. Your own melting furnace fuel adds to it.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads ingot purchases by supplier with your melting furnace fuel invoices, so your powder figure can be set against 3.364 or 2.886. We build the figure from your records and check every figure in-house; for the UK it must then be verified by a verifier accredited for UK CBAM. Have your own verifier? Send it to them.
