What goes in a UK CBAM monitoring plan?

A UK CBAM monitoring plan explains what you monitor, how data is collected, which methods you use, how you check data quality and how emissions are calculated and reported. It also sets the controls that stop errors between the meter and the final figure, and you review it at least once a year.

The five questions it must answer

  1. What is monitored: each fuel, material and emission source for each CBAM good.
  2. How data is collected: meters, weighbridges, invoices, lab analysis.
  3. Which methodology: calculation-based or measurement-based.
  4. How data quality is checked.
  5. How emissions are calculated and reported.

Write it for the shop floor

HMRC says the plan should be clear enough to serve as instructions for the people doing the work, and diagrams can help. It also covers the control measures on the data flow, from first reading to final embodied emissions.

What Senseible does here

Senseible gives the plan its data trail: each fuel and power figure linked to the invoice behind it, by site and month. We build the figure from your records and check every figure in-house; for the UK it must then be verified by a verifier accredited for UK CBAM. Have your own verifier? Send it to them.
