Which factory projects qualify under CCTS methodology BM IN02.001, and which are excluded?

BM IN02.001 covers energy efficiency measures at industrial, mining and mineral production facilities, such as efficient motors, pumps and boilers, installed new or as retrofits, and projects that combine efficiency with fuel switching. Renewable power, biomass energy, hydrogen and biogas projects belong under other BEE methodologies.

Projects that usually fit

Projects that belong under a different BEE methodology

Match the project to the list before you pay anyone to draft a design document.

Conditions to test before you go further

  1. Can the saving be told apart from everything else? The methodology asks that the effect of the measures be clearly accounted for and separated from changes in energy use caused by other factors, such as output or product mix.
  2. Is the facility existing or new? BM IN02.001 treats a facility as existing only if it has run for at least three years right before the project start date, which also gives you the history a baseline needs.
  3. Can you show the before and after? You need fuel and electricity quantities and output for the same boundary, from bills, meters and production logs.
  4. Does the fuel switch cut carbon per unit of heat? A switch to a fuel with more carbon per unit of energy produces no reduction to claim.
  5. Is your company an obligated entity under CCTS compliance targets? The offset mechanism is meant for entities outside the compliance targets, so check with BEE first.
  6. Is the same reduction already claimed elsewhere, for example under Verra or Gold Standard? Claiming it twice is double counting.

What the methodology text decides

BM IN02.001 is BEE's adaptation of the CDM small-scale methodology AMS-II.D. Size limits, how a capacity increase is treated, leakage and the monitored parameters are set in the BEE document itself, and in the tools it calls, such as BM-T-001 for the baseline and additionality. Read the version you register under on beeindia.gov.in before you size the project or promise anyone credits.

What Senseible does here

Senseible turns fuel and electricity bills into a dated monthly record of consumption, each figure calculated as activity times an IPCC 2006 or CEA factor and tied to its source file. That gives a BM IN02.001 project bill-backed baseline and monitoring data from the first month.

Last reviewed 2026-10-18. Checked against BM IN02.001 version 1.0 (BEE): scope, the three-year existing facility definition, the separability condition and its AMS-II.D basis. Size limits and capacity rules were not quoted because the full BEE text could not be read; BEE revises methodologies by notice, so confirm the version in force.
