How does a Philippine cement grinding plant count the imported clinker it uses?
The clinker's emissions happened at the kiln abroad, so for the grinding plant they are Scope 3, Category 1, purchased goods. Ask the clinker supplier for CO2 per tonne for the year; if none, use a stated estimate. Your own Scope 1 and 2 are the mill's power and any fuel used for drying.
Split
- Scope 3: clinker bought, by tonnes times the supplier figure.
- Scope 2: grinding mill electricity.
- Scope 1: dryer or hot gas generator fuel, if any.
Cement figure
Clinker share times the clinker figure plus your grinding energy per tonne. More limestone or pozzolan lowers it.
Ask the supplier
Clinker CO2 per tonne, kiln fuel and year, and whether it was reviewed.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads fuel, raw material and electricity invoices into a dated, fingerprinted record per plant, so the clinker and cement figures can be traced back to the documents behind them.
