How does an EU buyer get a CBAM figure for hot rolled coil from Bokaro?
Ask the mill for embedded emissions per tonne of coil, built from its blast furnace, coke ovens, sinter plant and steel shop, plus any bought precursors. Integrated mills run high, so a measured figure usually beats the EU default. Without one, the importer must use default values.
What goes in
- Coke ovens, sinter and pellet plants inside the works.
- Blast furnace and converter.
- Reheating and rolling fuel.
- Bought pig iron, coke or slabs as precursors.
What to send
One figure per tonne of coil, the reporting period, and the method. For steel only direct emissions count toward the charge; electricity is reported separately.
Verification
Actual figures need verification by an accredited verifier before an importer can use them for the definitive regime.
What Senseible does here
Senseible keeps each site's fuel, power and production records together, so the embedded emissions you send an EU importer trace back to dated documents.
