What is the CBAM default value for Indian rebar and wire rod?

4.270 t CO2e per tonne for Indian wire rod under CN 7213 and for ribbed rebar under CN 7214 20 00. Plain forged bars under CN 7214 10 00 carry 4.320. With the 2026 mark-up of 10%, the rebar and wire rod value is about 4.697 t.

Mark-up on top

The listed values are increased by a mark-up: 10% for 2026, 20% for 2027 and 30% from 2028. Goods imported in 2026 always take the 2026 mark-up.

Secondary steel makers

Many Indian TMT makers run induction furnaces on sponge iron or scrap. The India default assumes the blast furnace route for its benchmark, so a plant on a different route has even more reason to measure its own figure.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads coal, coke, gas, electricity and freight invoices into a dated, fingerprinted record per site, so an actual figure you send an EU buyer can be traced back to the documents behind it. It does not file CBAM declarations.
