What does an EU wire or fastener maker need from a Visakhapatnam wire rod supplier for CBAM?
Wire rod under CN 7213 is a CBAM good. The importer needs specific direct emissions per tonne (indirect emissions are not counted for steel), the production period and the installation. If the buyer draws wire or makes fasteners outside the EU, its own figure includes the rod as a precursor, so pass the rod figure down.
Data to send
- CN code and tonnes per shipment.
- Specific direct emissions per tonne; indirect emissions are not counted for iron and steel.
- Installation name and reporting period.
- Whether actual data or default values were used.
Passing it down
A fastener maker in India exporting to the EU adds its own drawing, heat treatment and plating emissions to the precursor figure from the rod. Without the rod figure it falls back to default values.
Common gap
Mill test certificates without carbon data. Ask for the CBAM figure in the same document set as the test certificate.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads coal, coke, gas, electricity and freight invoices into a dated, fingerprinted record per site, so each figure in a CBAM or buyer response can be traced back to the documents behind it.
