What should a Dahej or Jhagadia agrochemical exporter send when a European buyer asks for a product carbon footprint?
A cradle to gate figure per kg of active ingredient or formulation, covering purchased intermediates, solvents, steam, electricity and waste treatment, with the year, boundary and allocation method. Agrochemicals are not CBAM goods, so this is a buyer request under ISO 14067 or the buyer's own template, not a customs declaration.
What to include
- Purchased intermediates, with supplier figures where known.
- Solvents used and not recovered.
- Steam, fuel and electricity per batch, from meters and invoices.
- Effluent and waste treatment sent out.
How to allocate
Multi product plants share boilers and utilities. Allocate by metered use where you can and by mass or batch hours where you cannot, and state which.
What it is not
It is not a CBAM figure and does not need an accredited verifier, though some buyers ask for third party review.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads fuel, steam, electricity and raw material invoices into a dated, fingerprinted record per unit, so a product figure can be traced back to the documents behind it.
