What carbon evidence does EcoVadis ask an Indian supplier for?

EcoVadis wants documents, not answers alone: a climate or energy policy, Scope 1 and 2 totals with the method used, Scope 3 where you have it, a reduction target, and records of actions taken. Each claim needs a supporting document, and claims without one score little.

How EcoVadis scores the carbon part

Carbon sits in the Environment theme. EcoVadis scores management systems through indicators such as policies, actions (measures and certifications), how much of the business they cover, and reporting. A policy that exists only in the questionnaire, with no document, is treated much like no policy.

The documents to prepare

  1. A signed climate or energy policy with a named owner and a date.
  2. A GHG inventory: Scope 1 and Scope 2 totals in tonnes CO2e for a stated year, with the method (GHG Protocol), factors and their sources.
  3. Scope 3 categories you have measured, even if only purchased goods or freight.
  4. A reduction target with a base year and target year, and whether it is validated by SBTi.
  5. Evidence of actions: energy audit reports, solar or efficiency project records, and before and after consumption.
  6. Any public report or sustainability page where the figures appear.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills, fuel and purchase invoices into a Scope 1, 2 and 3 record with the source document behind each line, which you can attach as evidence. Its reports are self-declared drafts, and the EcoVadis rating itself comes from EcoVadis.
