What should an EU importer ask a Vietnamese aluminium extruder for under CBAM?
The extruder's direct emissions per tonne plus the embedded emissions of the billet or ingot it melted, with the billet's source. For aluminium, CBAM counts direct emissions only, but the precursor's direct emissions travel with the product.
Ask for
Extrusion plant direct emissions per tonne.
Precursor billet or ingot embedded emissions, from the smelter or remelter.
Scrap share, if the billet was remelted.
Common gap
Extruders may not hold the smelter's data. Ask early, because without it the precursor falls back to default values.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads your fuel and electricity bills into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual emissions your EU importer asks for, and its CBAM cost calculator estimates certificate cost from 2026 to 2034 for covered goods. Senseible does not verify emissions or file CBAM declarations.
