Which Bureau of Energy Efficiency Jorhat efficient motor report fits my tea dryer blower: 15, 18.5 or 22 kilowatts?

Three Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) Jorhat reports replace a tea dryer blower motor of 15, 18.5 or 22 kilowatts (kW) for rupees (Rs) 0.79, 1.01 and 1.13 lakh. They save 3,672, 4,110 and 5,400 kilowatt hours (kWh) a year and print paybacks of 2.93, 3.26 and 2.83 years.

The three reports side by side

Why the 15 kW report looks so good for its size

The saving is a share of what the blower draws. At 15 kW it is 1.02 of 9.94 kW, about 10.3%. At 18.5 and 22 kW it is 1.142 of 14.31 and 1.50 of 18.70, about 8.0% each. The 15 kW report assumes a worse old motor, 83.5% against 86.5%, so it books a bigger efficiency gain of 9.5 points against 7.5.

Check which efficiency your old motor really has before you pick a report. The reports say most of these motors have been rewound more than two or three times, which does not tell you your own motor's efficiency.

Printed figures that do not tie

Printed lines are the report's own. The last two lines are an example of my own reading, using the report's inputs.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel invoices and electricity bills into monthly records, so your monthly units are on file next to a report's yearly kWh. A bill covers the whole factory, so the blower's own draw still needs a meter. The green loan check shows what a lender asks for.
