What CBAM figure should an importer use for steel from a Kaohsiung mill?
Ask the mill for actual direct embedded emissions per tonne of the product you import, by CN code and period, including any bought slabs or billets as precursors. Kaohsiung has both integrated and arc furnace mills, and the route changes the figure a lot, so never reuse another mill or a national average.
Integrated route
Coke, sinter, blast furnace and converter emissions, net of export gases treated under the CBAM rules.
Arc furnace route
Electrodes, charge carbon, lime and gas for reheating. Scrap carries no embedded emissions, but bought DRI or pig iron does.
Electricity
Reported for steel, not charged in the definitive period. Keep it per tonne with the factor used.
What Senseible does here
Senseible reads fuel, electricity and material invoices into dated, fingerprinted installation records, the starting point for the actual figures an EU importer asks for. Senseible does not verify emissions or file CBAM declarations.
