Why can hot rolled coil from Hazira carry different CBAM figures from one shipment to the next?

Hazira mixes ironmaking routes, including direct reduced iron and blast furnace iron, and the CBAM figure follows the route that made each coil. Ask the mill which route and production period a shipment came from, and whether the figure is for that route or a site average under the CBAM rules.

Why it varies

Gas based DRI fed to electric furnaces and coal based blast furnace iron fed to converters have very different direct emissions per tonne. A mill running both can report per production process, so coil from different routes can carry different figures.

What to ask for

Common gap

Receiving one annual company average. That may not match how the CBAM rules want emissions attributed.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads coal, coke, gas, electricity and freight invoices into a dated, fingerprinted record per site, so each figure in a CBAM or buyer response can be traced back to the documents behind it.
