Can a factory, shop or office get the PM Surya Ghar rooftop solar subsidy?

No. MNRE's guidelines say no central financial assistance will be provided to non-residential consumers, including government, commercial and industrial connections. The subsidy is only for grid-connected rooftop systems tagged to a residential electricity connection, and for common facilities of housing societies.

What a business can do instead

For your carbon figures

Whether subsidised or not, a factory's own rooftop solar reduces the grid electricity on its bill, which lowers location-based Scope 2. Keep inverter and net meter readings for each month.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads electricity bills, including net metering lines, so grid import, export and solar generation sit in one monthly record with the factor and source shown. Figures are self-declared.
