Senseible

Where must I publish my emissions each year under the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and does a CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) response count?

C25 says you shall publicly report your company-wide inventory and your progress against published targets every year. R12 sets no required place, only that it is publicly available. In my reading, a CDP response can serve only if you submit it as public.

What the criteria say

Shall versus recommended

C25 is a requirement. R12 is a recommendation. So a page on your website that shows your full inventory (Scope 1, 2 and the Scope 3 categories you report) and progress against your targets meets the wording of C25. This is my reading.

Where CDP fits (my reading)

CDP's help page says you review and select your response publicity when you submit, and that a non-public submission can be changed to public. A non-public response is not public, so it would not meet a public-reporting requirement on its own. If you want your CDP response to count, submit it as public.

What a simple yearly page holds

  1. Base year and most recent year, Scope 1 and Scope 2, with the method for Scope 2 (location or market).
  2. Scope 3 categories you have calculated, and exclusions.
  3. Target wording and progress against it.
  4. The year, and when you will update it.

Example: a year-on-year line for the website

Figures are an example. The base year uses 0.710 and the later year 0.675, the Central Electricity Authority factors for financial year (FY) 2024-25 and FY 2025-26.

What Senseible does here

Senseible reads fuel invoices and electricity bills into monthly records, so the litres, kilowatt hours and months are in one place to copy from. It does not publish anything for you. The monthly records give you the figures to put on your own page.
